(C)あらゐけいいち・講談社／CITY THE ANIMATION 製作委員会CITY The Animation’s second trailer has arrived, showcasing additional scenes from the titular city’s happenings and its inhabitants, while continuing to impress with the seamless integration of foreground and background aspects in the anime’s visual style.
CITY The Animation is set to premiere on July 6 JST (effectively July 7 at 12 AM JST). It is adapted from the manga by Nichijou’s Keiichi Arawi, which was serialized from 2016 to 2021 in Kodansha’s Morning. Kodansha USA outlines the concept as:
From Keiichi Arawi, the beloved creator of nichijou, this whimsical and surreal series follows a broke college student, Midori Nagumo, as she navigates an otherwise ordinary city filled with eccentric characters. As this impulsive girl runs around, she sets the city into motion.
Midori finds herself in a tough situation. She is in debt, and her landlady is exerting pressure for unpaid rent. Her best friend has caught on to her schemes and refuses to lend her money. Perhaps some intimidation could work? Or a little minor theft? Neither option is viable. Maybe finding a job would resolve her issues… But working means sacrificing her enjoyment of escapades in the bustling city…
