© 日向夏・イマジカインフォス/「薬屋のひとりごと」製作委員会Japanese beverage companies Acrylic Complex and U Products are introducing an innovative medicinal cola syrup inspired by Maomao from The Apothecary Diaries series.
The syrup, named “Maomao Cola,” features a blend of various Chinese herbs and spices, including hawthorn and jasmine. It can be enjoyed in three forms: as a traditional cold drink, blended with milk, or as a hot tea.
The syrup bottle is designed to mimic a traditional medicine container, featuring a decorative label and bottle sticker adorned with designs inspired by the series. It is the newest addition to Acrylic Complex’s “Charasyrup” line, which comprises drink syrups influenced by popular anime and video games.
The “Maomao Cola” syrup is available for 2,980 yen (US$20.56) before taxes and shipping. Pre-orders can be placed at the official online store until June 23, 2025, at 12:00 PM JST, and international shipping is available through the WorldShopping proxy service. The product is anticipated to be shipped in July 2025.
Crunchyroll is currently streaming both seasons of The Apothecary Diaries worldwide except in Japan, with the synopsis of the second season described as:
When a favored concubine becomes pregnant, Maomao faces a challenge as her food taster. She must remain sharp to protect the concubine while navigating looming dangers in the palace. A new concubine with significant connections, an unresolved attack on Jinshi, and a foreign envoy with daunting demands suggest a grand conspiracy threatening the empire.
