The 1990 PC Engine City Hunter game is set to receive a modern Revival Edition for Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 5, and Steam. The release date is February 26, 2026.

An English press release also lists Xbox Series X/S among the platforms, although the Microsoft consoles are not mentioned in the Japanese press release or trailer descriptions.

Simply titled City Hunter, like the original Tsukasa Hojo manga and anime, this new version of the 2D action side-scroller will feature language support for Japanese, English, French, German, Italian, Spanish, Korean, Traditional Chinese, and Simplified Chinese.

The store pages also indicate the inclusion of the Nicky Larson version, Nicky Larson, which is the 2018 French live-action adaptation of City Hunter directed by Philippe Lacheau.

City Hunter was developed by SUNSOFT and is recognized as the only official City Hunter game ever created. This remaster has Red Art Games credited for development and Western distribution, with Clouded Leopard Entertainment as the publisher.

The story description for the remaster reads:
My name is Ryo Saeba, also known as City Hunter. In this profession, I’m a recognized professional “sweeper.”
I handle various types of jobs, from safeguarding beautiful women to carrying out assassinations. Essentially, I’m a cleaner who removes the filth from the city, leading a life that’s constantly on the edge. My partner, Kaori, happens to be the younger sister of my late best friend, yet she rarely brings any worthwhile jobs.
So, what kind of assignments am I facing today?
