Warner Bros. Japan Introduces 'Looney Tunes Gokko' Shorts

Following up on the popular Tom and Jerry Gokko shorts series, Warner Bros. Japan is revitalizing more classic cartoon characters from the WB library with Looney Tunes Gokko. The first cartoon premiered on April 30 on the studio’s YouTube channel. The “Gokko” tag is derived from the Japanese word that means make-believe play.

The debut episode centers around the classic “Rabbit Season” gag and presents chibi versions of Bugs Bunny, Daffy Duck, Lola Bunny, Tweety Bird, Sylvester, Wile E. Coyote, Road Runner, and the Tasmanian Devil.

Tom and Jerry Gokko initially launched on Cartoon Network Japan in November 2022, premiering during the “National Cheese Day” celebrations and has continued to be released with one new episode each month. The English-language Warner Bros. Kids’ YouTube channel started streaming the series in July 2025 (Tom and Jerry’s 85th anniversary year). As of October 2025, WB reported that Tom and Jerry Gokko had accumulated over 70 million views across all platforms (YouTube, TikTok, Instagram, X, Facebook) and related posts on @WBStyle, outperforming other content by 78% in June and July.

The Tom and Jerry Gokko shorts are created by Japanese studio Fanworks (Aggretsuko) with animation production support from Studio Nanahoshi (Kuromi’s Pretty Journey) and are directed by Kodai Sato.
